Histopathological correlation in oral biopsies in clinically diagnosed pediatric oral lesions: A 12-year institutional archival study

: The present study was aimed to determine the histopathological correlation in lesions of oral cavity children aged 14 years and below received for diagnosis Oral Pathology Department Indira Gandhi Government Dental College Jammu, J&K. archives Microbiology were retrospectively analyzed. Biopsy records all from pediatric patients, 0–14 years, Of Maxillofacial & Microbiology, J&K, 2011 2022 considered. Descriptive statistical analysis using computer software Pearson’s Chi‑square test performed. 36 biopsies (4.9%) belonged population out total 727 that during period. Females (64%) showed greater prevalence compared males (36%). Affected age group seen between10–14 years. most common category diagnosed cysts odontogenic tumors least seen. Mandible more predilection maxilla jaws which location involved, followed by gingiva, palate, lower lip labial mucosa. On comparing diagnosis, dentigerous (22%) radicular (17%), fibrous hyperplasia (14%), pyogenic granuloma (11%), central giant cell (8%), minor salivary glands (5.6%) percentage aneurysmal bone cyst, peripheral granuloma, ossifying fibroma, juvenile cementoblastoma, ameloblastoma necrotic equal (2.8%).
